Stefaan grew up as a MK (Missionary Kid) in Swaziland, then his parents joined YWAM, He was involved with Kings kids. After leaving school, Stefaan went to University where he did a Bachelor of Science with Mathematics and Physics at Potch University,(graduate 1988) followed by a teachers diploma at the University of Pretoria (1990).
Stefaan is married to Trudie from Namibia and they have 1 son Jetro who is 20 years old, they often travel together as a family, Jetro has already been in 38 nations.
Stefaan and Trudie joined YWAM in 1991, the Schools they did in YWAM, Discipleship Training School (DTS), School of Evangelism, School of Biblical studies, Leadership Training School, Foundations in Community Development and many seminars.
Stefaan helped to pioneer YWAM in Madagascar from 1992-1998.
In 1998 Stefaan and Trudie pioneered the Worcester base in South Africa, the base has grown to probably the largest in Africa, where they train between 400-600 students annually.
In 2006 Stefaan became the national director of YWAM in South Africa. Three years later he was asked to oversee the regional office of YWAM Southern Africa (Namibia, South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland and Botswana) and the Indian Ocean Islands (Madagascar, Mauritius, Reunion, Seychelles, & Comors).
Stefaan really loves teaching people about the Holy Spirit. His motto is “Naturally Supernatural”. He teaches all over the world on all the continents. He has had the privilege to teach and minister in 78 nations so far.
At present Stefaan is part of the Regional Eldership team that give spiritual eldership to the 40 YWAM bases in the region with 700 plus staff.
